What is documentary family photography?
Documentary family photography means just that, I document your family. No stiff poses, no cheesy smiles, and please, no white shirt and khaki 'uniforms'. You wear what is comfortable, you play around either in your home or a place that has meaning for you, and we get some great, authentic images.
What should I wear?
Please wear what is comfortable for you. I do recommend not wearing busy patterns or clothing with writing or large pictures on it, as that is distracting in the photos. The important thing is for all of you to feel good in what you're wearing, and to be yourself!
How long does this take?
There are several options. I have 90 minute documentary sessions in which the first 15 minutes or so are spent taking informal portraits of the family or group. Then you play together: throw a ball or frisbee, blow bubbles, race, hopscotch, stuff like that which is fun for you. The session ends with individual photos of the members of your family.
I also have 'Day in the Life' options available in which I spend 3 hours,(or more), with your family, capturing a typical day. I want you, and everyone, to look at these images years from now and feel what it was like to be in your family at that time.
